Choosing a PE bag starts with the packed product, not with a generic bag thickness. The right specification depends on material, dimensions, single-side thickness, printing, quantity, packing method and transport conditions. Use the steps below to prepare a specification that a manufacturer can quote accurately.
LDPE is flexible, soft and clear. It is commonly selected for flat bags, carton liners, garment packaging, ziplock bags and general industrial packaging where clarity and flexibility matter.
HDPE feels firmer and can provide useful strength at a lower material weight. It is often used for shopping bags, liners and packaging where stiffness is preferred. The final choice should be confirmed with a physical sample because the same nominal thickness can feel different in LDPE and HDPE.
Always state whether the thickness is measured on one side or as the combined thickness of both bag walls. HengYi quotes bag thickness as single-side thickness. Our production range is approximately 0.008 to 0.20 mm per side.
Thin bags may suit light retail or garment packaging, while heavier or sharp-edged parts usually need more thickness. A sample test is the most reliable way to confirm puncture resistance, seal strength and handling feel before mass production.
Measure the product and allow space for loading, sealing and any gusset expansion. Flat bags can be produced from about 7 cm up to 2 m wide, and longer bags can be made with manual bag-making when required. Ziplock bags can be made up to about 1 m wide.
Available formats include open-top bags, heat-sealed bags, side gussets, punched holes, perforated bags on a roll, die-cut handle bags and other custom converting options.

Printing changes the economic minimum because each color requires a printing plate and machine setup. HengYi supports gravure printing with up to 8 colors. As a reference for bags around 0.04 mm single-side thickness:
A printed 20 × 30 cm bag may start at about 20,000 pieces.
A printed 40 × 50 cm bag may start at about 10,000 pieces.
An unprinted bag can often start at about half the printed quantity.
These are reference quantities, not fixed rules. Thickness, size, print coverage, number of colors and bag style can move the MOQ up or down. For orders with printing, a practical total order value is normally at least USD 500 because the plate fee alone is about USD 100 per color.
PE film rolls are normally produced from 300 kg per specification. A single roll can be made from about 5 to 100 kg, and the paper core can be customized. Film rolls are protected with bubble wrapping for shipment.

Unprinted sample: normally completed within 3 days; USD 25 per specification. Available stock samples are free.
Printed sample: normally about 10 days; the plate fee is about USD 100 per color.
Plate storage: plates are stored without charge and can be reused for repeat orders. A size, artwork or color change requires a new plate.
Mass production: normally completed within 3 weeks after specifications and payment are confirmed.
Sample and courier costs are paid by the buyer.
A useful supplier check covers incoming raw materials, blown-film thickness and width, printing quality, bag dimensions, seal strength and outgoing sampling inspection. HengYi normally controls thickness within about ±3% and dimensions within about ±1 mm, subject to the agreed specification.
SGS RoHS and PPWR-related test reports are available. A Chinese food-contact test report is also available. For food packaging or regulated applications, confirm the destination market, packed product and required document language before ordering. Certified biodegradable material can be arranged when the required certificate and specification are confirmed in advance.
